She Wore it First

Instead of learning where to buy something worn in film or television, discover how to achieve the look for under $100 (Because not everyone can afford the designer duds worn by the likes of Emma Stone or Jennifer Aniston, but everyone should sure as hell be able to look like they can). “What’s Your Number?”

Anna Faris can do no wrong.  She is hilarious - from “The House Bunny” to “Just Friends” she always cracks me up.  ”What’s your number?” is absolutely no exception.  In a comedy about a woman who thinks she’s reached her peak number of sexual partners so she backtracks through her exes, Faris shines.  The tiny blonde looks adorable doing it too.

This adorable brown blazer is one of my favorite looks from the movie.  It’s the perfect weight and shade for fall looks - breezy but sunny days.

Check out this look-alike from H and M UK.  You can purchase it online for around $50.  Cute right?  It’s a more camel shade than brown but it still has the fall, menswear-inspired feel.

Another cute option comes from ModCloth!  Its a little more expensive at $89.99 and has the feel of a knit sweater, with jersey-like sleeves.  I might have to pick it up for myself!

The Lying Game: Double Dibs (Episode 3)

In the same vein as “Pretty Little Liars,” ABC Family’s new series “The Lying Game” matches attractive teenagers with incredible fashion.  Alexandra Chando stars as Sutton and Emma, twins who rediscover each other and swap lives “Parent Trap” style.  In Episode 3, Emma sports this adorable electric blue romper.

This is not the outfit piece I want to focus on though.  I really like the color contrast and pop of a different hue with the purple belt.  So many people often buy belts in typical brown and black.  Change it up with bright hues!

Find this $48 belt at Intermix.com, but it’s designed by Maison Boinet.  Obviously it’s the purple color but it also emulates the thin shape.

Or try this neon yellow bright skinny belt from Forever 21.  It’s only $1.50, so buy the neon pink one too and create multiple color blocked looks.

New Girl

Zooey Deschanel constantly plays the quirky, unique tomboy character and she’s at it again in her new series “New Girl.”  And while she’s constantly the quirk, I never get tired of it.  I really liked “New Girl” - especially the interactions between Deschanel’s Jess and her three male roommates. Now Jess is a nerdy character, so not everything she wears (yes, I mean the overalls) is incredibly stylish but there were some style highlights fromthe episode.

Like this adorable blazer:

Blazers are always practical and can be worn with floral prints (like Zooey’s outfit) to add a masculine touch to an outfit.  The maroon color is great and very practical for the Fall palate.  The gold buttons add a schoolboy look.

This Red Poet’s Society Jacket from ModCloth is a little more expensive ($69.99) than the Forever 21 version below, but has more of a classy feel with brass colored buttons and poofy sleeves.

This blazer from Forever 21 matches the color and general shape (the model is even wearing a floral skirt with it!) but lacks the gold buttons.  The price is great though: $27.80.

One Day

The movie does not come out until tomorrow, so expect a longer post on the costuming then, but from the trailers I noticed some great shades that Anne Hathaway is modeling in several sequences.  The round sunglasses are a mix between John Lennon and Harry Potter.

Both my finds come from Topshop; both are tortoiseshell, the one pair with a much thicker frame.

(500) Days of Summer

While I am obsessed with this movie (and Joseph Gordon-Levitt), I was so emotionally crushed after my first viewing.  How could Zoey just break his heart like that?! Gordon-Levitt was charming throughout the film as the hopelessly devoted Tom to the unattached Summer.  While the soundtrack to the film was amazing, Zoey’s quirky costuming as Summer was as well.

Summer’s pale blue dress is 50s/60s inspired- similar to the costuming for “The Help.”  The fit is very feminine, cinched at the waist with a v-neckline and slightly capped sleeves.  I love the bow, it draws attention to her slim waist.

This dress has a higher neckline but emulates the fuller skirt and bow waist detail.  Instead of a muted blue it features a paler, floral pattern.  It retails for $89.90 at Modcloth!

This Asos dress has the same silhouette as Summer’s costume, as well as a blue hue, but instead features the bow detail on the upper back.  It’s on sale for only $25.86!

The denim skirt.  While knee length skirts are assumed with the 90s, they’ve been making quite the comeback.  Coupled with a lighter denim shirt and the right accessories, the base denim skirt Summer is wearing is something to emulate.

Amber Denim skirt with front buttons sells for $75.

Madewell denim wrap skirt for $95.

Dark blue belted denim skirt from Debenhams for $63.00.

The Jersey Shore promotional photos

I would NEVER condone anyone dressing like the cast of the Jersey shore… NEVER EVER EVER.  But (and this is a big but) in the promotional photos for the fourth season of the Jersey Shore J. Woww has the right idea with her dress.

The one shoulder dress is incredibly cute and a style gracing the racks right now.

Vestique.com has multiple styles in the one sleeve dress, in a foray of colors.  Check these out:

Friends With Benefits

Known to many as “No Strings Attached” part II, this Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis film was actually able to stand on its on.  And it really solidified one thing - Justin Timberlake is really funny as an actor.  I loved “Sexy Back” as much as the next girl, but now I fully support this foray into his theatrical side.  The leading lady’s fashion is what we are most interested in though.  Mila’s character was casually stylish - her costuming never made her look like she was “trying” too hard.  For example, check out this plaid shirt look:

Plaid is easy to find at many stores, but try this Forever 21 shirt for a looser fit and in a similar color scheme as Kunis’. It retails for $19.90 and is offered up in two pastel shades.

This shirt, also from Forever 21, takes a spin on the classic plaid with a more demure sleeve and an open neckline.  The look is still casual androgynous but this shirt adds sex appeal with the chance to show some cleave. Also $19.90.

The American Eagle Favorite Plaid shirt is just your basic plaid - probs a little better quality than the Forever 21 tops, as it retails for a higher price ($29.99).  It comes in five different color combinations.  My favorite is orange.

With this look, we’re looking at the skirt.  While it fits tight like a bandage or body con skirt, it also adds vertical ruching.  A lot of skirts with this look retail for a high price, but I was looking for $50 and under pieces only.

The Akira Drape Pocket Skinky Skirt comes in a light pastel blue, and while it has a more modest fit than Kunis’ skirt, it features a more elaborate draping detail.  It retails for $32.90.

Instead of drapery, this bandage skirt features asymetrical stitching to create a layers look, that is just a touch above the ordinary like Mila’s skirt. It comes in four colors from Styles For Less and get this… it’s only $12.99!

The Bachelor Pad 2, Episode 1

Oh the drama.  Let’s not even delve into the antics of the show’s first episode.  What I love is Holly’s beautiful feather skirt.  The skirt itself is Bebe, but is no longer available.  So I found some look-a-likes:

Buy this purple, fuller feather skirt from Sense of Fashion for $85.

The Lipsy Feather & Lace Layered Skirt from Asos is on sale for$25.86!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II

Let’s face it, most viewers of the final installment of the “Harry Potter” series were likely not at the film to see Hermione’s killer fashion.  While Emma Watson herself rocks a pixie cut and designer duds, Hermione has never been the most stylish character.  However, in the final film, there were remnants of replicable pieces in Hermione’s costuming. Specifically, her jean jacket.

The jean jacket has been a fashion staple for years that fell by the wayside and with a recent rise in denim’s popularity, has resurfaced.  Thus, acquiring a jean jacket for your wardrobe is definitely not impractical - it’s outdoor wear that’s not only useful, but cute.

Denim jacket from American Eagle Outfitters for $49.50.
